Whether you have a new puppy or an adult dog, you want to pick just the right dog kennel. After all, the kennel will serve as a part-time “home” for your dog. You want him to be safe while he’s in it, whether it’s during a time you’re not home or when you’re traveling together. A good dog kennel is sturdy and durable – strong enough that he won’t chew his way out of it while you’re running errands, but comfortable enough for him to feel good while inside. At BestReviews, we can help you find the right dog kennel for your beloved friend. We researched the dog kennel market and selected what we feel to be the very best offerings. We did not accept free samples from manufacturers during our research, because we strive to be completely honest and bias-free. Hi Kristy. ProSelect is definitely the most heavy duty of them all (but as you noted, VERY expensive). Have you tried this style of heavy duty crate before? If so, you might be able to get away trying a less expensive model like the SmithBuilt. Unfortunately, there are always some dogs who can break out, so really hard to say. Your best bet is the ProSelect, but I know I myself would probably try some of the other models first if I never tried any kind of heavy-duty style crate before.

Pros: This crate worked especially well for owners frustrated of their pets chewing through cages constantly. The crate also doesn’t rattle or shake easily and the tray is simple to remove at the bottom (no struggling). The ease of assembly and disassembly make it an attractive seller for busy owners who don’t have time to read through a 100 page manual on how to put it together.
Overview: This uniquely designed dog kennel looks like a tiny hut and is designed for outdoor use and protecting your dog from the elements. Its dimensions are huge; five feet long by five feet wide by five feet high. The roof on top of the “hut” is a weather-resistant cover made of polyurethane. The Gazebo doesn’t require tools to set it up, and the access window that is secure and safe to lock and latch.
I purchased the 24.6" x 16.9" x 15" size which is good for my smaller Shiba - who is about 15 lbs. This is a good lightweight kennel for smaller dogs and makes moving your dog (when in the kennel) easy. The door swings both left hand and right hand which is very convenient - however the door does not operate as smoothly as earlier Petmate Kennels. Assembly is very fast and easy. There are no tie-down holes in this unit - which I think is a minus. Like earlier Petmate Kennels, this particular kennel size has a carrying handle at the top. Be aware that the larger sizes do not have a carrying handle - which I think is a minus. I would give this a higher rating if there were (1) tie-down holes at the four corners, (2) a handle ... full review
