Crating also has benefits outside the home. A crated dog traveling in a car will have less chance of serious injury in case of an auto accident. If you’re traveling and stay overnight someplace, having your dog in a crate will ease the concerns of your hosts. Your dog will also be more comfortable inside the familiar surroundings of his or her own crate no matter where it’s set up.
Why it's at #7? I placed the Prevue Pet Products Home On-The-Go Single Door Dog Crate on the seventh position of best extra large dog crates list because the wiring was not durable for puppies going through separation anxiety, as one woeful tale from a customer showed. Also, several of the crates above it had weight limits of 90 pounds, whereas this one is five pounds less.

The wires used for small crates may not be sturdy or rigid enough to retain their structural integrity when used in big crates. Additionally, large dogs have stronger jaws and teeth than smaller dogs do. Accordingly, you’ll always want to look for crates that feature thick, strong wire (if you opt for a wire-style crate – there are certainly plenty of other options out there too!).

If you have a pooch that loves to escape their kennel, check out the Goplus Metal Wire Pet Crate. It is a good crate for those dogs that are keen to get away. It can be easily moved around the house although it is not collapsible, it is relatively lightweight. Indestructible dog crates are a great investment because you will not need to replace it.
The pan on the bottom is plastic, making it easy to clean, but it holds up well and is durable. It’s suggested that you put some sort of padding in there for your dog to make sure he or she is extra comfortable. The sides of the cage are made of wire and there are secure side bolts to make sure it stays shut. The company suggests that the dog breeds you put in there should be between 41 and 71 pounds.

One owner notes that the only major difference between this crate and higher-end models is that the door locks could potentially be opened if a dog pushes the lever with their tongue. And indeed, several owners have noted that the locks weren’t able to keep their Houdini hounds in check. However, one individual notes that you could simply zip tie or caribeaner the lock if escape is an issue.
Why it's at #6? We put this Midwest Life Stages Single-Door Folding Metal Dog Crate as sixth on the list of best extra large dog crates because several customers had issues with it collapsing, though whether this was from human error or because of faulty conditioning, they weren’t specific. But, when it comes to housebreaking, the dividers in this are very useful.
Dog kennels, crates, and accessories create a safe, dedicated space for your furry friend to settle into at home, a visit away, or anywhere between. Our wide selection provides secure containment while catering to your canine’s natural instinct to den. From housebreaking your new puppy to keeping the furniture chew-free, crates and kennels can be an effective training tool, while preventing destructive habits from developing.
Pros: Customers were pleased with the durability and security of this crate. The plastic tray is injection-molded, meaning that it is reinforced and won’t break down as easily as other plastics do. The pan also has its own lock, meaning that it can’t be pushed out of the crate. Customers were fond of the three locks, especially those who had dealt with dogs pushing open crate doors before.
Observe your dog and see what escape methods he is using to get out of the crate. When you find out the exact way your pooch is employing to break free, then you can work to rectify the problem. You may need to hide behind something or use a camera device because most dogs will wait until they are free from your company before making an attempting escape.

This method is favored by the smarter pooches who don’t have the strength to brute force their escape. The dog will play with the latch using their nose or paws until it is unlocked. Perseverance is vital for the dog in this regard, first attempts at manipulating the lock may seem clumsy and without purpose, but smart dogs soon learn what works and what does not.

Why We Recommend It: If your dog escapes from standard wire or plastic crates, the LUCKUP could be the solution. It's built with highly durable steel, has three metal latches on the main door, and comes with two trays to make cleaning easier. It's probably not quite as strong as the Zinger Winger or Grain Valley, but can keep most dogs contained and provides great value.
Also, the crate is made out of plastic, which is durable and washable. The darkness inside the crate makes it an appropriate bed to use if your dog has trouble sleeping, with one commenter noting that it was capable of housing her dog as though he had a little den. This kennel is also good for dogs that fancy themselves escape artists. The heavy duty fasteners on the kennel, locked door, and thick outdoor posts prevent them from getting out on their own accord.

Addendum added January 28, 2013: My vet had never noticed these carriers because I had never put one up on the exam table until my last vet visit. She looked at it with interest and totally concurred with my opinion of having a small, but open carrier for my two (panicky) cats. She has seen more than a few overheated pets in too enclosed carriers. Since I live far from the vet I always carry spare towels for the bottoms of the carriers and she found that the "stable floor covering'* I use was an additional comfort feature for my pets long trip to their appointments. (I just ordered the larger size of this carrier for my "Phat Kat" and will donate her previous carrier to our local animal shelter.)
