This crate is a piece of junk -- literally. We bought it for our very calm and docile Irish Setter. In less than two hours, he had completely destroyed the gate and had the cheap bars pointing in every direction and was at the door to the garage to greet us. The spot welds were worthless as it came apart very easily. When I contacted the seller about the crate, they responded that they were sorry about problems with the "table" and would replace it if I paid to send it back! I wrote back that it was an inferior product, why would I want another one and that I expected a full refund and a return label. I even included pictures of the gate. Now they tell me that they won't take it back because it has been damaged?? HELLO! Why do you think I am returning it. I would not buy a single thing from this vendor -- RUN don't walk away from all their products!! I intend to call amazon directly about this vendor! In less than 2 hours it was destroyed!!
For that matter, purchasing an indestructible crate for a dog is the owner’s best decision. It offers your pooch a safe place that they can use whenever they want. The dog won’t see the metal bars as something that keeps him imprisoned – he will, instead, see them as an integral part of his small cave that keeps him protected from the outside dangers. In other words, he won’t see his new crate as a negative space as long as you use it appropriately.
The fold and carry crates are among the best for the owner who travels often. The setup and teardown is easy. This is the more traditional type of crate we carry, that provides your pet a secure place whether at home or on the road traveling. Ideal for when you have company that may be a bit fearful or skittish around dogs to allow them to warm up to being around your pet.

Pros: Walter, as I stated before, has this crate and he loves it. It’s roomy enough for him to move around in, yet sizeable enough that he knows it’s a resting place. We put a dog pillow and toys in there for him and he’s occupied for hours. The sides are chew-proof and the bolts are secure enough where even pretty smart dogs won’t be able to break out. It’s a heavy crate, around 50 pounds.
Overview: Made in the USA, this kennel is for transporting your pet, though it can be used in your home for stationary purposes as well. The wing nuts on the sides are plastic and are impervious to rust. The kennel itself is made of plastic with a chrome door latch that requires squeezing, so your dog won’t be able to break out. It’s also dark, so if your dog gets scared easily and needs to feel secure, this kennel will be able to provide that security. The dimensions are: 36” x 25” x 27.”

Dogs have a natural instinct to have a den enclosure and owners can satisfy these needs by providing them with a crate. Crates are also practical training and housebreaking tool because dogs are naturally averse to soiling in their den. Extra-strong crates can be used to prevent dogs and puppies from destroying their surroundings and chewing furniture.

Also, many customers who were considering crate training bought this and found it to be very successful, with one purchaser saying, “Anyone that is considering crate training to PLEASE do it! Your dog will be happier [and] you will house break him or her quicker.” The rave reviews were from an owner who had easily used this crate to train her puppy.
A few owners mentioned problems with the crate handle, so you’ll want to be careful when carrying it. Note that some airlines require crates to be fastened with metal, rather than plastic hardware (which is provided with this crate). However, it is easy to pick up some metal bolts and use them to replace the plastic hardware that comes with the crate.
Overview: This uniquely designed dog kennel looks like a tiny hut and is designed for outdoor use and protecting your dog from the elements. Its dimensions are huge; five feet long by five feet wide by five feet high. The roof on top of the “hut” is a weather-resistant cover made of polyurethane. The Gazebo doesn’t require tools to set it up, and the access window that is secure and safe to lock and latch.
Hi. I am so confused with all the crate advice. I have a German shepherd with major separation anxiety. She was a rescue dog. Has lots of issues. The complete destruction of my house and going potty on the floor is what I can’t take any more. Shes 16 mos. old. Vet recommended Pro select. Its expensive for me. BUT I don’t want to buy anymore gates or crates!!! I don’t have any couches left. Shes eaten 3 doors, floor boards, etc… I don’t want to find her another home. I LOVE her , and who knows where she may end up when she destroys their things??! I need something that will last ! IF I have to put it on a credit card . so be it. Please let me know what you truly think the best bet would be to contain a crazy shepherd?
The Smithbuilt cage is well established. It has a tried and tested track record of many customer reviews. So you can feel comfortable with what to expect. Beware of other cheap cages that do not have a good number of customer reviews. You’ll have less reason to have confidence in whether it’ll be suitable or a complete waste of money, or even dangerous for your pet.
Note that some authorities recommend adding 4 to 6 inches on top of your dog’s length when selecting the proper crate size, instead of the 2- to 4-inch guideline we prefer. This is fine if you’d prefer to scale up the crate a little bit, but understand that it is not a good idea to provide your dog with a crate that is too large. Doing so will eliminate some of the benefits crates provide (more on this later), so stay in the 2- to 6-inch range.
The wires used for small crates may not be sturdy or rigid enough to retain their structural integrity when used in big crates. Additionally, large dogs have stronger jaws and teeth than smaller dogs do. Accordingly, you’ll always want to look for crates that feature thick, strong wire (if you opt for a wire-style crate – there are certainly plenty of other options out there too!).
It sure is a good thing I checked amazon.com for dog creates before spending almost twice as much at a major pet store! This crate is perfect in every way. It's very well made and the price can't be beat. The bottom plastic tray can be easily removed for cleaning and the crate collapses very easily. It's pretty easy to open and close with the double sliding locking mechanism, and it comes with a partition so it can grow with your puppy. I can't imagine housetraining our now-five-month-old puppy without it! We love this create, and so does our puppy.
