The reason this crate doesn't rank as highly as the Empire is that it's not quite as escape-proof. I think the top door might be a weak point, so you may want to use a zip tie to stop it opening if you don't plan on using it. The most determined and strongest chewers may be able to attack the bars though - so for these dogs look for sheet-walled crates instead.
Pros: Customers who chose to take this on camping trips with them found that the mesh held up well against the elements and was mosquito proof. Other customers remarked on the space, finding that being able to put in their dog’s food and water bowls with them in the crate was very convenient. It’s also lightweight and easy to move, despite the size. It’s also very well ventilated and has good air circulation.

Pros: Walter, as I stated before, has this crate and he loves it. It’s roomy enough for him to move around in, yet sizeable enough that he knows it’s a resting place. We put a dog pillow and toys in there for him and he’s occupied for hours. The sides are chew-proof and the bolts are secure enough where even pretty smart dogs won’t be able to break out. It’s a heavy crate, around 50 pounds.

Overview: Another plastic kennel, this is good for at-home use or when transporting your dog. It measures 48 x 32 x 35 inches, which is a huge size for a crate. It also meets USDA and IATA (International Air Travel Association) standards for shipping animals, so it will be okay to travel with—though make sure to check with your airline. The maximum height is 34 inches for your pet.

First, consider your dog’s height, weight, and temperament. The height and weight of your dog will determine whether the dimensions of your best extra large dog crates will work for him or her. Then, consider their temperament. If they have separation anxiety or a tendency to chew on things, you want something that is sturdy and bend resistant. Also, if you have a puppy and want to start housebreaking, consider one of the crates we showed you that have a divider in it to help with the training.

Why We Recommend It: If your dog escapes from standard wire or plastic crates, the LUCKUP could be the solution. It's built with highly durable steel, has three metal latches on the main door, and comes with two trays to make cleaning easier. It's probably not quite as strong as the Zinger Winger or Grain Valley, but can keep most dogs contained and provides great value.

Pros: This crate worked especially well for owners frustrated of their pets chewing through cages constantly. The crate also doesn’t rattle or shake easily and the tray is simple to remove at the bottom (no struggling). The ease of assembly and disassembly make it an attractive seller for busy owners who don’t have time to read through a 100 page manual on how to put it together.
Complimenting the robust aluminum build is a door that is made of solid steel bars that have been welded to a high standard. This package of strength is sure to keep your escape artist pooch secure. The doors are connected to the body by a full-length striker plate and piano hinge. For extra security, each door features a flush-mounted slap latch allowing for a solid close.
Most Helpful review (read the full Amazon review): “We purchased two of these crates for our 60 lb dogs over 2 months ago. The 42″ size is quite large, in fact, both dogs can sleep comfortably together in one. The crates are like cozy, mini tents and my husband and I joke that we'd like to sleep in them. They are very light to move around, and easy to fold up or down. We've had two problems. One is that…“

As well as being escape-proof, the Impact Case is also fully collapsible. When broken down it measures less than 8 inches in height – Ideal for storage when not in use. It is evident that security is the key design focus as it has an industrial style about it with 3/8 inch round bars that give the cage stability. This crate is also built for pet safety and comfort – The paint is a gray powder that deflects heat, and there are plenty of holes and openings that allow good airflow.

Most Helpful review (read the full Amazon review): “i owned a giant vari kennel for my yellow lab lance years ago and it was a must-have for our home with a high energy destructive puppy! as he became a senior, i got rid of it as it took up a lot of space. he was almost 16 years old when he passed this past march. we knew we would adopt another lab but were sure it would be awhile. less than a month later, we became foster failures when we adopted our year old black lab/great dane mix murphy. we will never…
Cons: And on that note, even though the dogs weren’t able to get through the mesh, they still were able to chew the zippers, some of them. If you have a puppy that loves chewing things and making escape attempts, watch out for the zippers. Also, several customers pointed out that there was a plastic smell when you opened the crate, but one aired it out for several days and found that the smell was gone once it was hit with fresh air.
Whatever happened to your last one, the important thing to know is there's a back up ready. The Petmate Plastic Replacement Dog Crate Pan is available in a wide array of sizes that are designed to fit standard Petmate wire crates. Tough plastic material is ready for heavy use and is easy to keep clean. This pan features a generous lip to prevent food, water, and whatnot from spilling over the sides.
Whether you have a new puppy or an adult dog, you want to pick just the right dog kennel. After all, the kennel will serve as a part-time “home” for your dog. You want him to be safe while he’s in it, whether it’s during a time you’re not home or when you’re traveling together. A good dog kennel is sturdy and durable – strong enough that he won’t chew his way out of it while you’re running errands, but comfortable enough for him to feel good while inside. At BestReviews, we can help you find the right dog kennel for your beloved friend. We researched the dog kennel market and selected what we feel to be the very best offerings. We did not accept free samples from manufacturers during our research, because we strive to be completely honest and bias-free. Another drawback is that it's not the best for home use. While it's listed as suitable for dogs up to 75lbs, this is for car journeys when having space to bang around during a crash isn't a good thing. If you're going to use it as a crate for long periods, make sure you choose a bigger version than you think you'll need (there are Small, Intermediate, Medium and Large options).

It is a little flimsy but it isn’t being moved all over the house so it’s perfect for my girl. She out grew the one I borrowed so I had to buy a new one and it had to be bigger and cheap. The three doors don’t really make sense but whatever. The handle was broken in the box but I didn’t plan on using it and threw it away. It would be a five star if the crate wasn’t so flimsy. It did open and set up quickly.
